U.S. Congressman Jay Obernolte (R-CA) recognized Yucaipa resident Nicole Seheult with a certificate presentation in the U.S. Capitol Building in recognition of her achievement of the Congressional Award Gold Medal. Nicole traveled to Washington, D.C. this week for the Gold Medal Ceremony, where she was presented with her award at a ceremony in the Capitol Building.

“Nicole's remarkable dedication to community service, educational outreach, and personal growth has made a profound impact on her community. Her accomplishments serve as inspiration for others to follow, encouraging us all to strive for excellence and look for ways to make a difference,” said Rep. Obernolte.

In qualifying for the Gold Medal, Nicole completed 400 hours of public service volunteering at a nature preserve and making Christmas and Valentine’s Day cards for her local children’s hospital. She also completed 200 hours of personal development, 200 hours of physical fitness, and planned and executed a five-day, four-night expedition.

The Congressional Award Gold Medal is the pinnacle achievement of the Congressional Award program. Established by Congress in 1979, the Congressional Award encourages America’s youth to strive towards personal development, public service, physical fitness and exploration. The program is open to all youth in the United States between the ages of 14 to 24 regardless of ability, circumstance or socioeconomic status.
